I named her Catalina. First night we took off toward the mountain. Headlights went out in a parking lot between a gas pump and a soda fountain. Broke down on an Oregon mountain road. Lookin under the hood, chevy 350 newly rebuilt, wouldn't you know that the company who laid the paint job called her Catalina Blue. So we High tailed it North in a fiery morning fever. Singing old Merriweather breakdowns and laughing to John Lee. Broke down again. And again and again. Broke down for the last time in Vancouver. I nearly died in the storm that night cause the van was empty and the wind was a-howlin' in through a window that wouldn't ever shut right and the hail tink-tink on the roof and on my bare face cause there wasn't even a blanket to cover me. So it was last December, when I finally let her go. I gave her to a man named Rose. And that was it.
